REF: HAT/CEO/OSHA MEDICAL FEES/2018/02 Dear Madam,
Chief Executive Officer,
Occupational Safety and Health Authority
Plot No MNY/KMB/565
Mahakama Road, Kinondoni
P.O Box 519
Dar es salaam, Tanzania
The Hotels’ Association of Tanzania (HAT) and its members wish to formally bring to your attention that for a number of years there have been outstanding grievances with your authority
specifically with regards to:
a. Arbitrary enforcement of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, 2003 and its regulations
b. Inconsistency and differentiation in the application of the Occupation Health and Safety Act, 2003 and its regulations to different companies and in different regions
c. Incompatibility and impracticality of several regulations under the Occupational Health and Safety Act, 2003 with the hospitality sector
We therefore kindly request a formal engagement to discuss the above and how best to proceed in the interim whilst we work on future regulations that will be industry sensitive. Of urgency at the moment, however, is regarding the below medical tests to be undergone by all employees of a company on an annual basis. Whilst we can understand the importance of medical examinations, we fail to understand the requirements for the others for all employees regardless
of their functions and station of work.
